Stablecoin API v1.0.8 β€” Release Notes

πŸš€ Stablecoin API Update v1.0.8 is now live! πŸŽ‰

This release standardizes international phone number formatting with a leading plus (+) across African mobile money corridors, adds automatic operator resolution for Tanzania (TZS), and introduces explicit mobile_provider selection for West and Central African corridors (XOF & XAF).

✨ What's New

  • πŸ“± Mobile money phone format standardization β€” all mobile money corridors now require international format starting with a leading +
  • πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ώ TZS prefix-based operator resolution β€” automated operator detection for Vodacom M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and Mixx by Yas (Tigo)
  • 🌍 mobile_provider parameter for XOF & XAF β€” explicit mobile operator selection for corridors where the network cannot be inferred from the phone number alone

πŸ“± Mobile Money Phone Number Format Standardization

To prevent provider validation errors, all mobile money phone numbers must now be submitted in international format starting with a leading plus (+) and the country dialing code.

Numbers without a leading plus (e.g. 255... or 075...) are rejected by payment provider validation.

πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ώ Tanzania (TZS) Mobile Money Operator Routing

For TZS mobile wallet beneficiaries, the mobile money operator is resolved automatically from the phone number prefix:

OperatorSupported Prefixes
Vodacom M-Pesa74, 75, 76, 79
Airtel Money78, 68, 69
Mixx by Yas (formerly Tigo)71, 65, 67, 77

Numbers outside these prefixes (including Halotel 61 and TTCL 73) are not currently routable.

Example β€” TZS Mobile Wallet

{
  "account_details": {
    "currency": "TZS",
    "is_mobile_wallet": true,
    "recipient_phone_number": "+255754123456"
  }
}

🌍 Explicit mobile_provider for XOF and XAF

For multi-operator mobile money corridors where the network operator cannot be determined unambiguously by phone prefix alone, beneficiary payloads now support an explicit mobile_provider parameter.

Supported operators:

  • XOF: MTN, ORANGE, MOOV, WAVE
  • XAF: MTN, ORANGE, MOOV, AIRTEL

Example β€” XOF Mobile Wallet with mobile_provider

{
  "account_details": {
    "currency": "XOF",
    "is_mobile_wallet": true,
    "recipient_phone_number": "+221771234567",
    "mobile_provider": "ORANGE"
  }
}

Example β€” XAF Mobile Wallet with mobile_provider

{
  "account_details": {
    "currency": "XAF",
    "country": "CM",
    "is_mobile_wallet": true,
    "recipient_phone_number": "+237651234567",
    "mobile_provider": "MTN"
  }
}
